Brickyard Springs Community Worship Center (BSCWC) is a non-denominational church located in Rockwood, Tennessee. BSCWC is located at 238 Lenoir Avenue in Rockwood where Reverend Steven Womack is the Pastor of the church. Our mission is to help provide physical, mental and spiritual healing to those in need. This includes feeding the hungry, visiting the sick and imprisoned, care for our neighbors, fight injustice and provide positive influence on distressed communities including the underserved citizens of Roane County, the surrounding counties of East Tennessee, and other areas within the state of Tennessee and the United States to help improve quality of life; and we do everything with love.
Some of the programs BSCWC currently offer are:
BSCWC SHFB Food Agency
Brickyard Springs Community Worship Center is a partner agency with Second Harvest Food Bank (SHFB) of East Tennessee. Second Harvest Partner Agencies are community organizations who work with Second Harvest to distribute food out into their 18-county service area. BSCWC, along with Rockwood Ministerial Association Food Pantry, are the two SHFB food agencies in Rockwood. Second Harvest’s programs are designed to serve those experiencing hunger across East Tennessee, from children to seniors, and everyone in between. SHFB, along with BSCWC, strive to distribute food to every corner of the community, provide educational resources, and end the cycle of poverty.
BSCWC will be distributing food to the Roane County and East Tennessee community on rotating Saturdays once a month to compliment Rockwood Ministerial Association and other Roane County food bank distributions.
BSCWC Greater Youth Program
A program BSCWC is in the process of implementing is called the BSCWC Greater Youth program. The BSCWC Greater Youth program mission is to help underserved children of Roane, Anderson, Knox, Blount, Campbell, Loudon and other the surrounding counties of East Tennessee acquire knowledge that can be used in the workforce through volunteerism and student achievement. We wish to work together with the local schools to help encourage student attendance, which in life, translates to a person valuing work attendance.
BSCWC is an official certifying organization (CO) for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). The Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) award was established to honor volunteers that give hundreds of hours per year helping others through the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation. Thus, BSCWC mission fuses with PVSA mission which is:
• Recognize the valuable contributions volunteers make in communities.
• Encourage more people to serve
• Honor individuals whose service positively impacts communities and inspires others to take action
• Recognize individuals who are committed to a high level of volunteer and service
• Honor volunteers who are using their time and talents to solve some of the toughest challenges facing the nation.
Criteria to receive the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) is a comprehensive process where we assess the volunteer work of the participants, we log volunteer hours to ensure award criteria is met, and award recognition where it instills confidence and a sense of success. Most, if not all, of the volunteer opportunities follow BSCWC mission of feeding the hungry, visiting the sick and imprisoned, care for our neighbors, fight injustice and provide positive influence on distressed communities including the underserved citizens of counties in East Tennessee, other areas within the state of Tennessee, and the United States to help improve quality of life; and we do everything with love.
BSCWC Substance Abuse & Mental Health Program
Brickyard Springs Community Worship Center is a certified recovery congregation through the state of Tennessee. BSCWC has partnered with the State of Tennessee Division of Substance Abuse Services to be an active and engaged network of faith communities and organizations in Tennessee to help our fellow citizens in Rockwood, Roane County and East Tennessee struggling with addictions.
BSCWC collaborates with other organizations and agencies with Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) programs on the state and federal level. Many of these programs are delivered in faith-based and community settings. Together, these effective partnerships support mental health services, substance abuse prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery. With collaboration, BSCWC help engage people with or at risk for mental health and substance use disorders. Also, we aid in SAMHSA-supported education and training programs that not only support mental health services, substance use prevention and addiction treatment, but also help create integrated, sustainable collaborations at the local, state and national level.
