We are looking for Spanish-speaking volunteers to support a variety of Family Engagement events at Whittle Springs Middle School. Your help will play a vital role in strengthening our connections and improving communication with our Spanish-speaking families during after-school events. MEDIC Regional Blood Center is currently seeking volunteers to assist in scheduling appointments with whole blood donors. Volunteers will use MEDIC office phones and will be asked to make several calls per shift. 

All volunteers must undergo a criminal background check, no exceptions. MEDIC staff will send the background check link to your email address within 48 hours of your registration to volunteer. 

Volunteers will also need to sign waivers during their first shift. Volunteers will be given a volunteer ID badge to wear while they work at the center. 

Schedulers will work at our Ailor Center at 1601 Ailor Avenue. Volunteers must adhere to MEDIC policies, including those for smoke-free and fragrance-free environments. 

Volunteers will be given a script and a call list using our donor platform.

Our volunteers work out of our Maryville warehouse in the Product Recovery area or our Repack Clean Room where we process donated and bulk food for distribution, to help feed our East Tennessee neighbors.

Volunteers also help in non-food project support roles such as cleaning, letter stuffing, and miscellaneous admin duties. 

No experience necessary! Training will be provided on-site at the beginning of the shift.

*Volunteers must be at least 10 years of age, and anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
** Please note, for groups that have minors ages 10-15 among the participants, we require a 1:5 chaperone to minor ratio. Please ensure that your group size matches this ratio with adult chaperones (18+) and minors.

We are a partner with the We Honor Veterans Program (Veteran to Veteran) and we took an oath that we would make sure our Veterans die with dignity and not alone. We are holding up our end of that bargain.

However, we've found they need more than just our services, they need their brothers and sisters that they have that special connection with to be with them through this journey. Veterans have a bond with each other like no other - not like a spouse, sibling or a child. We already have several Veteran Volunteers but we keep them busy. We need more! We are looking for Veterans that have the time to make visits, calls, write letters, send cards, run errands, provide respite, etc. Their families need your support too.

TN TeenLine is looking for compassionate volunteers to support Tennessee adolescents via text. Volunteers respond to text messages from teens and young adults seeking support with emotional distress, relationship issues, mental health struggles, bullying, and more.

Ideal candidates are skilled in active listening, able to type clearly and quickly, and have some familiarity with mental health or emotional wellbeing. Volunteers must complete our free training program and commit to two 4 hour shift per month. Your empathy could make all the difference to local teens.

CONTACT Care Line is seeking compassionate and dedicated volunteers to join our newly established Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) Team.

About the LOSS Team: The LOSS Team provides support to individuals and families who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one to suicide. As a LOSS Team member, you will play a critical role in offering comfort, resources, and a listening ear to survivors, helping them navigate the difficult early moments of their grief journey.

Possible Tasks:

Training Provided: All volunteers will receive training on suicide prevention, crisis response, and providing support to survivors. No prior experience in crisis intervention is required – just a willingness to learn and serve others in their time of need.

With 7.5 acres of greenspace atop Mabry's Hill and a single staff member, volunteers provide vital in maintaining and beautifying our historic site. Have you ever wished you could make a difference just by running your daily errands? 

Our mission is to provide opportunities for refugees to rebuild their lives after suffering persecution so that they may become productive, contributing members of the community. Bridge Refugee Services is expecting to welcome a record number of refugees to Knoxville this year, and we cannot do this without community support.

We would love to have volunteers help us shop for culturally appropriate groceries.  We will give you grocery gift cards (you don't have to use your own money!) and a culturally appropriate grocery list for the family you are shopping for; you help us by going to a local Walmart or other grocery store and shopping for the items on the list and return the groceries to our office. This volunteer opportunity is very flexible with busy schedules!

Help us give a refugee family a head start in their new city by providing nourishing food.

Bridge Refugee Services, Inc.'s mission is to provide opportunities for refugees to rebuild their lives after suffering persecution so that they may become productive, contributing members of the community. Bridge Refugee Services offers support to over 400 refugee clients in the greater Knox Co. area, and we cannot do this without community support.

Through Second Harvest's Food Rescue Program, we have been able to create partnerships with local ethnic grocery stores and restaurants around Knoxville to combat food insecurity in the refugee community.  We would love to have volunteers help us pick up food donations from these stores and restaurants each week.  We will give you a location or locations to pick up from and you will represent Bridge as you drive to these locations to interact with store employees and pick up these donations.  Then bring these donations back to our office to help us weigh and record the donation.  Vehicles that can haul large donations are preferred, but may not be required.  This volunteer opportunity is a weekly opportunity with some flexibility.

SUMMARY:

We are looking for volunteers to ride along with our Food Rescue Staff Members.

Our Food Rescue Drivers are responsible for safely and efficiently picking up donated products from various donors such as, grocery stores, restaurants, farmers, caterers, etc. Donated products are delivered to partner agencies (food pantries, shelters, senior and disabled housing facilities, etc.,) or brought back to Second Harvest Food Bank for distribution. Food Rescue Drivers and volunteers are required to positively act as an ambassador for Second Harvest Food Bank to maintain and build donor relationships, agency partnerships, and community support.

VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Represent Second Harvest Food Bank in a professional, positive, and efficient manner to increase our distribution abilities, enhance donor relationships and improve partner agency satisfaction.

Work with Staff to safely and efficiently pick up a wide variety of donated products from grocery stores, restaurants, farmers, caterers, etc. on regular reoccurring routes. Food Rescue Drivers will from time to time be asked to pick up “call in” donations in addition to the regular route.

Work with Staff to adjust route accordingly to maximize time, meet the needs of our donors and our partner agencies. Specified times will apply.

Work with Staff to deliver donated goods to partner agencies (churches, shelters, senior housing facilities, schools, etc.) for distribution to the community or bring back to Second Harvest Food Bank for distribution.

Work with Staff to complete accurate reports for donations received and donations delivered daily and provide this documentation to designated staff.

Work with Staff to Provide excellent customer service and communication to donors and partner agencies (grocery stores, restaurants, farmers, caterers, schools, churches, senior centers, etc.) including a timely response to phone calls and emails.

Work with Staff to maintain a clean truck (cab of truck and food storage box) and any other equipment (pallet jacks, hand trucks/dollies, etc.)

 Have fun and enjoy getting to know our drivers, our donors, our agencies, and our food rescue program.

Our volunteers work out of our Maryville warehouse in the Product Recovery area or our Repack Clean Room where we process donated and bulk food for distribution, to help feed our East Tennessee neighbors.

Volunteers also help in non-food project support roles such as cleaning, letter stuffing, and miscellaneous admin duties. 

No experience necessary! Training will be provided on-site at the beginning of the shift.

RED PANDA RUN WATER TABLE VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTION 

Zoo Knoxville is hosting its first ever 5k run on Saturday, May 30th! The Red Panda Run will start in front of the red pandas at the Zoo and travel through Chilhowee Park, including right past Muse. We need volunteers to manage a water table to fill cups of water, hand water to runners, and encourage them as they stop to hydrate. This volunteer is managed by the Vice President of Operations. Any questions or concerns regarding scheduled shifts, hours verification, etc. will be directed to Shelby Cornell at shelby@themuseknoxville.org.  

SCHEDULE: This volunteer opportunity is around 1.5 hours in length. Shifts are scheduled via Give Pulse, Volunteer East Tennessee, or other volunteer recruitment platform.

Exhibit Floor & Makespace Support volunteers at Muse Knoxville work alongside our Guest Experience team to help facilitate discovery, exploration and play with our exhibit spaces and programming, while helping to maintain a clean and safe space for all. WHEN VOLUNTEERING AS EXHIBIT FLOOR & MAKESPACE SUPPORT, YOU WILL … 

Engage with children and families on the exhibit floor by interacting with them in our exhibit spaces

Help maintain museum safety and cleanliness by sanitizing individual toys and surfaces with bleach solution

Pick up toys and exhibit items and return them to their proper place

Be aware of your surroundings and let a staff member know if you see something unsafe, witness an injury, or see a lost child or a parent looking for a lost child

Communicate any items needed on exhibit floor to a staff member (Makespace supplies, Draw Alive copies, etc.)

Answer questions from guests as applicable and/or direct them to the nearest staff member

Facilitate Daily Discovery activity table as directed by staff

Complete other tasks as assigned by staff including but not limited to cutting Draw Alive copies, sharpening pencils for Draw Alive and Makespace, replacing zip ties on Zip Tie Car Wash, cutting out and laminating items for homeschool and camp programming, sanding and painting blocks for Norilla exhibit, and organizing staff kitchen

Complete outdoor tasks as assigned by staff based on availability and need including but not limited to pulling weeds, spreading mulch, leaf blowing, painting, etc. 

In Makespace exhibit area:

Monitor children and ensure the safe use of the hot glue guns

Facilitate creativity and discovery by asking questions, encouraging children, and helping them find supplies

Restock supplies if bins are low or empty

Clean off tables and surfaces

Sweep the floor often and before the end of your shift

Sunshine Services is looking for volunteers to help with Golden Hour: An Evening to Shine Forward, a special community event taking place on March 27 from 6:00–10:00 PM at the Sunshine warehouse.

Golden Hour will bring together community members, supporters, and partners for an evening of music, connection, and impact as we raise support to expand opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

We are seeking volunteers to assist with a variety of roles throughout the evening, including:

• Event set-up

• Selling glow bands to support the event’s fundraising efforts

Join us in making Norwood shine! We’re looking for volunteers to help with gardening, and light cleanup. It’s a great way to give back, meet others, and create a welcoming space for our students and families. No experience needed—just bring your energy and heart!

We need regular help in the library restocking shelves, organizing shelves, and rescanning books in. We also need assistance with daily dusting, sanitizing surfaces, and book repair. We are looking to organize our new Enginarium and labeling locations (think well organized Garage Tools). We will need assistance decorating bulletin boards and designing logos and promotional items. Something I am also interested in is getting some drone footage of our school, some shots of the school from cool angles, and maybe even highlighting our outdoor learning space!

The SKE Garden workday will be a great time doing good work preparing our outdoors for our student's outdoor learning!

Every Wednesday, Emerald Youth's JustLead Ministry offers a discipleship opportunity for youth and the community. Each afterschool location has an evening filled with fun games, a Bible lesson, corporate worship, and other faith activities. We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to lead students in small groups to discuss the Bible message of the week. We serve elementary, middle, and high school age students.  Commitment:  Wednesdays from 5:30-7:00 pm at one of our JustLead locations

At Emerald Youth, Worship Arts is an essential part of our mission to help young people discover their God-given potential and experience transformative growth. We offer a mass choir (1st-7th grade) and a Gospel choir (8th-12th grade). Students have the opportunity to perform at city events (upon request) and at EYF's special events such as the Legacy Dinner and the Prayer Breakfast. We are looking for people to serve in a variety of roles to help our Worship Arts Ministry grow! Our primary needs are with our mass choir group which practice on Thursdays from 5:30-7 pm. We are seeking people who are willing to work with students on singing and/or also help with operations.

Emerald Youth's JustLead Ministry is our youth leadership program and provides a variety of activities. JustLead’s afterschool program for elementary and middle school students includes tutoring, homework help, health/fitness/nutrition instruction, field trips and service learning opportunities.  We are looking for volunteers interested in helping our youth with their homework!

Our Emerald Force Track Ministry offers an AAU league and Rec league during the summer for 6th grade students through 12th grade students. We are looking for assistant coaches to help with track and/or field.

Now accepting Board Directors Applicants Our mission at Rustic Rover Rescue a nonprofit 501©3 organization, is to promote and provide humane treatment of animals through education, fostering, which includes pulling and adopting homeless animals within our partnership with Sevier County Humane Society County Animal Shelter. RRR serves the community by reducing pet population through spay/neuters, and maintaining the commitment to not euthanize healthy, adoptable animals. Any person interested in becoming a member of the Board of Directors is requested to complete an on-line Volunteer application. Board members serve 12 month terms. The Board meets quarterly. Nominating process and expectations:

1. Names of potential Board members must be residences of the state of Tennessee. Applicants may be solicited from current RRR Board members, donors, educational institutions, agencies and other community members.

2. The Board Membership Committee will review the applications and bring recommendations to the full Board for a vote. All applications must be submitted no later than March 28th 2026.

3. Applicants must agree and abide by all of RRR's bylaws; including too but not limited to pediatric spay/neuters and abide by all local animal laws and ordinances.

4. Board members will be expected to participate as a member and to participate in RRR functions during the year. Board members are expected to attend a minimum of three Board meetings each year as well as other events or volunteering, as necessary. Quarterly meetings take place at our main location in East Knoxville. This is a non-paid position, and requires a minimum of 40 hrs a year volunteering OR raise $500 in monetary donations every 12 month period. We are creating a FUNdraising committee for Rustic Rover Rescue. The goal will be to generate essential revenue for medical care, food, and operations through events, grants, sponsorship, and digital campaigns. Key strategies include monthly giving programs, contests, corporate partnerships, and leveraging social media.

Must be able to commit to a 1-year term , quarterly meetings, and a focus on community engagements. Help Organize, market, and execute events like pet walks or adoption socials. Create direct mail, social media, and year-end campaigns. Reach out to local businesses for corporate sponsorship.

Must be able to work alone and within a group, have good communication skills and reliability.

The tenth annual South Knoxville Community Cleanup will be held on Saturday, April 18th, 2026 from 9am-12pm! The event base will be at Chapman Square, located at 4409 Chapman Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920.   

We will be removing litter from South Knoxville roads, creeks, and parks. Participants of any age are welcome! We look forward to seeing those who live, work, or play in South Knoxville - as well as anyone who wants to lend a helping hand. Thank you to Ijams Nature Center for partnering with us for an invasive species removal!

There are four volunteer options.

Groups: Perfect for businesses, neighborhoods, and student groups! Groups will be assigned/can request an area of South Knoxville that they will clean up. Please only sign up as a group if you are wishing to lead your group in your own cleanup area. Minimum 5 volunteers to sign up as a group. Maximum 40 volunteers per group.

Please park on Martin Luther King Jr Avenue and then come to the front office doors underneath the awning. You will need to have your drivers license or some other form of verification to sign in at the front. All volunteers must complete an orientation with the Site Coordinator, Kyle Pickell, so plan to arrive 15 mins early to your volunteering event. 

Ujima is building relationships and introducing the game of soccer to 5th graders at Sarah Moore Greene each Friday. Recess runs from 12:15 - 12:35 unless it is raining. Training focuses on our core values of teamwork, respect, discipline and leadership, and a structured play time that gets everyone involved. Students go directly from recess to their lunch time where Ujima coaches are welcome to hang out and talk until 1:05 pm.  Volunteers must submit to a personal interview and a background check.

Join us for an afternoon of science experiments!

Volunteers will work alongside our participants and staff to help with science experiments including water activities and mini lava lamps.

We are looking for Spanish-speaking volunteers to support a variety of Family Engagement events at Norwood Elementary. Your help will play a vital role in strengthening our connections and improving communication with our Spanish-speaking families during after-school events. We would love to have you join us in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all of our families!

Teacher Supply Depot is changing its floor plan and needs help setting up the new store. Volunteers will be asked to move and unpack boxes, place supplies on shelves, and break down boxes. We have dollies and carts, but some light lifting may be necessary.

Your GPS will take you to the pre-k entrance where you will see a playground; instead, go down to the last entrance coming from the interstate. You will see the Teacher Supply Depot sign on the side of the building. There is parking in a small lot at the depot, but if it is full, you may park in the grass alongside the road.

Fort Sanders Educational Development teachers want to take their preschoolers outside! With hands-on learning the core of the project, support is needed to prepare the space before the teachers will plant the space out with their students. Tasks may include: removing sod, mulching, moving raised beds, etc.

Please bring a water bottle and wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty!

Lakeshore Park Conservancy is always in need of volunteers to help with daily maintenance and care for the Park. Join us for Weeding Wednesday to help our grounds crew with various projects within the Park. Projects may include weeding, planting, mulching, and other outdoor tasks needed around the 185-acre Lakeshore Park. Volunteers should wear weather appropriate clothing & shoes (you may get dirty!) and bring a water bottle. Our team will have all the other supplies you need. An email will be sent the day prior to your shift indicating where to meet and a sign will be placed on the door of the Lakeshore Park Office building by the pickleball courts showing where to go.

Join us this year for the 14th annual Mud Run on the day before Mother’s Day, May 9th, 2026!

This event includes over twenty different obstacles, rolling trails on a marked course, and even a dip in the lake!  From Adversity Hill to the Tire Traverse and the A-Frame Climb, runners 8+ years old can sign up to race independently or with a team. Costumes are encouraged and the most creative could even win an award! Vendors, music, and refreshments will be onsite for participants and their fans, friends, and families to enjoy along with the beautiful views. In addition to our 5K course, we will also host our second annual Fun Run for anyone 4+ years old! This Fun Run will take place right after the 5K, will be a bit over a mile long, and will include several of our obstacles! How fun!

The money raised from the event will support Harmony’s therapeutic programming at Camp Montvale which includes our equine therapy program and therapeutic camps for foster and adoptive children and families. 

Douglas Lake is a popular place for recreational activities. Unfortunately, heavy use can lead to negative impacts. Join us as we spruce up Dike (Saddle Dam) 10 at the end of Allensville Rd by removing litter and graffiti!

Join Keep Sevier Beautiful and Great Smoky Mountains National Park for a campground cleanup at Elkmont! Tasks will include leaf-blowing, picking up litter, stick and debris removal, replacing signposts, and other maintenance. Let's work together to keep our park clean for the enjoyment of all!

We are a small founder-led organization looking for a fundraising coordinator with experience in fundraising and networking with local individuals, businesses, and organizations. Our ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to take initiative. Experience with grant writing is preferable but not required. Hours are flexible, and the majority of the work may be done remotely.

Clean litter from the road side and the hill below the observation deck.  All materials will be provided, wear sturdy shoes, bring water and dress for the weather.

Participants run either a 5K or 10K run on the hike/bike trails through Sharp's Ridge Veteran Memorial Park.  

Volunteers are needed to help with registration, manage cross street traffic, monitor and pass out water on the trails.  Volunteer time is approximately 7:15-noon.  Some later arrival will depend on the job the volunteer is doing.  

The 80th South Central Province Council of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity is coming to Knoxville April 8-11, and they need volunteers to assist with registration. Volunteers will welcome and check in attendees at the start of the conference at the Marriott Knoxville Downtown on April 9 and 10. Volunteers will receive a Team Knoxville Volunteer t-shirt.
