We can't wait to have you at Helping Mamas Knoxville! Please make sure to park in our parking lot which as you pull in will be on your right. We allow Children who are 8 years old and up to volunteer with a parent.  We have a lot of items in our warehouse that could be a hazard if they fell over so this is just to keep everyone safe. 

As a warehouse warrior you will help sort donations such as clothing and baby supplies. You can also assist with creating/decorating period kits, repackaging open/loose diapers, and organizing books, toys, etc. We need your help to keep our donations organized and going back out to children who need them!

TCWP will sponsor a day of trail maintenance work at Whites Creek Small Wild Area in Rhea County at 10 a.m.  January 17, as part of our ongoing stewardship activities for this TVA Small Wild Area trail. The trail loops onto land that TCWP purchased from Bowater several years ago, thanks to the generous support of our members. Participants should wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring work gloves, loppers, and small bow saws or folding  saws. Some hand tools will be available at the event. Please be sure to bring clothing appropriate for the weather, as well as water, snacks, and/or a lunch. 

Participants can meet for carpooling or caravanning in Oak Ridge at the Gold’s Gym/Books-A-Million parking lot in Oak Ridge (at the end, close to S. Illinois Avenue, near Salsarita’s). We’ll leave Oak Ridge at 9 a.m., or volunteers can join the crew at the trailhead at 10 a.m. We plan to spend three or four hours at the site, but volunteers may come and go as they wish. If the weather is uncooperative—excessive rain, or snow and ice—we will reschedule for the following Saturday.

Join park staff in the battle against invasive plant species at Seven Islands State Birding Park. We'll be cutting and removing invasive plant species, including privet, honeysuckle, wintercreeper, and multiflora rose. Some cutting tools and work gloves will be available for volunteers to use, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own cutting tools if they have some, such as pruning shears, loppers, and hand saws. Volunteers should bring bottled water to drink while working.

MEDIC Regional Blood Center is currently seeking volunteers to assist in scheduling appointments with whole blood donors. Volunteers will use MEDIC office phones and will be asked to make several calls per shift. 

All volunteers must undergo a criminal background check, no exceptions. MEDIC staff will send the background check link to your email address within 48 hours of your registration to volunteer. 

Volunteers will also need to sign waivers during their first shift. Volunteers will be given a volunteer ID badge to wear while they work at the center. 

Schedulers will work at our Ailor Center at 1601 Ailor Avenue. Volunteers must adhere to MEDIC policies, including those for smoke-free and fragrance-free environments. 

Volunteers will be given a script and a call list using our donor platform. 

Volunteers who do not show up for their registered volunteer slot without notice forfeit all remaining slots the volunteer has signed up for. If a volunteer is unable to attend their shift for any reason, please email volunteer@medicblood.org. Our volunteers work out of our Maryville warehouse in the Product Recovery area or our Repack Clean Room where we process donated and bulk food for distribution, to help feed our East Tennessee neighbors.

Volunteers also help in non-food project support roles such as cleaning, letter stuffing, and miscellaneous admin duties. 

No experience necessary! Training will be provided on-site at the beginning of the shift.

*Volunteers must be at least 10 years of age, and anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
** Please note, for groups that have minors ages 10-15 among the participants, we require a 1:5 chaperone to minor ratio. Please ensure that your group size matches this ratio with adult chaperones (18+) and minors.

The Joy of Music School holds Board Meetings from noon to 1pm on the third Wednesday of every other month throughout the calendar year. Our first meeting of 2026 will be on Wednesday, January 21st. We are looking for a volunteer receptionist to answer phones and let visitors in to the school during those six meetings. It is a light duty position. 

The Salvation Army of Knoxville is looking for volunteers to help at our reception desk and to assist with various clerical tasks.

The person(s) who help with this will:

Help is needed on Mondays and Fridays between 9 am and 4 pm, however volunteers may choose to be here only for a few hours each week. We can work around your availability. This is a great volunteer spot for college students, recent retirees, stay-at-home parents looking to get out of the house, etc.

Because we must train volunteers on certain tasks, we prefer someone who can be here consistently - for example: every Monday from 9-12 or every Friday from 1-3.

The eighth annual North Knoxville Community Cleanup and Tree Planting will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 9am-12pm. The event base will be at Northgate Plaza, located at 4212 N Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37917.  

We will be removing litter from North Knoxville roads, creeks, and parks.  

This year, we have a special partnership with Trees Knoxville to plant trees at Whittle Springs Middle School. Trees Knoxville and Keep Knoxville Beautiful are partnering to plant trees in communities and schools across Knoxville. Together, we are growing the urban canopy, helping keep schools cooler, and increasing biodiversity in neighborhoods throughout the city. This partnership supports healthier learning environments, stronger communities, and a more resilient Knoxville for generations to come.

Volunteers are needed for several different tasks:

Teacher Supply Depot is located at 709 N Cedar Bluff Road, and is attached to Cedar Bluff Preschool. There is parking available in the small lot in front of depot. 

Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.

On February 14, a day of trail work and hiking will take place on the 2.5-mile section of the Cumberland Trail at the Obed Wild and Scenic River between Nemo Picnic Area and Alley Ford, adopted by TCWP in 1998.  

Participants should dress appropriately for winter weather, wear sturdy shoes or boots, and bring work gloves, loppers, small bow saws or folding saws, shovels, and grubbing tools, as well as a lunch and plenty of water. Cumberland Trail State Park personnel will also make some tools available at the event.

Participants can meet for carpooling in Oak Ridge at the Gold’s Gym/Books-A-Million parking lot (meet at the end close to S. Ujima is building relationships and introducing the game of soccer to 5th graders at Sarah Moore Greene each Friday. Recess runs from 12:15 - 12:35 unless it is raining. Training focuses on our core values of teamwork, respect, discipline and leadership, and a structured play time that gets everyone involved. Students go directly from recess to their lunch time where Ujima coaches are welcome to hang out and talk until 1:05 pm.  Volunteers must submit to a personal interview and a background check.

Ujima is building relationships and introducing the game of soccer to 5th graders at Spring Hill Elementary each Friday. Recess runs from 1:20 to 2:00 pm unless it is raining. Training focuses on our core values of teamwork, respect, discipline and leadership, and a structured play time that gets everyone involved.  Volunteers must submit to a personal interview and a background check.

The annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Count helps Knoxville-Knox County understand how many people are experiencing homelessness on a single night, including individuals staying outdoors or in places not meant for human habitation. Your participation ensures every person has the chance to be included in the count.

This volunteer role supports the direct outreach survey, which takes place over several days so that teams can cover as much of the county as possible. Volunteers will always be paired with an experienced outreach team lead who handles planning, supports safety, and serves as your point of contact throughout the shift.

Walk outdoors with your team lead to known or likely locations where unsheltered neighbors may be staying.

Offer the survey, share provided incentives, and help ensure each person has the opportunity to be counted.

Follow your team lead’s guidance for safety, transportation, and approach.

All volunteers must complete one online training session, available on multiple dates mid-December through mid-January. Training covers safety, survey administration, and expectations for the day.

Keep Knoxville Beautiful will be having our January Saturday Spruce Up on January 24th from 10am-12pm. We will be removing litter from the area around East Town Crossing Shopping Center in Northeast Knoxville.

Nourish Knoxville is looking for volunteers for our Saturday Winter Farmers Market. Volunteers may assist with setting up and breaking down the market information booth, conducting crowd counts, operating our Nourish Kids educational programming, and/or helping process transactions for Market Money (Nourish Knoxville's ATM system) - Double Up Food Bucks (SNAP doubling program) - and SNAP (formerly known as Food Stamps).

Special Olympics Tennessee Fitness Program is a wellness initiative focused on fitness, nutrition, and mental health for teens and adults (ages 13+) with intellectual disabilities. Through goal-setting and measurable outcomes, we aim to empower athletes to take control of their health and reduce the disparities often faced by individuals with intellectual disabilities.

One of our key programs, Train 4 Life, is a 12-week fitness, nutrition, and wellness series. Each session lasts 60 minutes and is designed to help athletes build healthy habits in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Train 4 Life Volunteer Info:

Volunteers assist head coaches and athletes during weekly workouts. You can sign up for any individual sessions you’re available to attend.

Resilience Wellness Association is a 501(c)(3) that I started in 2022 to provide access to mental health services such as therapy and counseling. Our organization has grown thanks to receiving some grants, but we really lack funding from donations. **Mobile Meals delivers meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, but help is needed all holiday season**

Mobile Meals delivers to over 1,000 homebound seniors daily Monday – Friday to every zip code in Knox County. Volunteers deliver a hot lunchtime meal that, along with the daily safety check, helps to keep individuals safe and healthy longer in their own home, where they want to be. We need over 100 volunteers deliver meals each weekday. Volunteers are always needed to help with this much needed service.

Deliveries take place 10am - 1pm, Monday-Friday. Volunteers can schedule a route to be assigned on a regular basis, can volunteer seasonally (during holiday times, during any school breaks, etc.);or can give us a list of dates or just reach out when available. Kids are welcome to come along and Students will earn 4 hours per delivery and are welcome to bring someone along with them.

 Knoxville-Knox County CAC’s (Community Action Committee) Volunteer Assisted Transportation (VAT) program is seeking volunteer drivers to assist seniors and people with disabilities to medical appointments, shopping trips, beauty appointments, and other fun activities!

During the fall and winter months our regular scheduled volunteers are not available due to travelling and vacations. We are always seeking volunteers, and this is a time that we will need more volunteers to cover our needs. We provide the vehicle to use and supply the gas. You just pick and choose how often you want to volunteer. 

We are celebrating 16 years of serving the community and what a way to help someone, by getting them to the grocery store to access fresh food and also making sure they get to much needed medical appointments. We even can provide social trips to the senior center or the beauty salon.

Our mission is to provide opportunities for refugees to rebuild their lives after suffering persecution so that they may become productive, contributing members of the community. Bridge Refugee Services offers support to over 400 refugee clients in the greater Knox Co. area, and we cannot do this without community support.

Through Second Harvest's Food Rescue Program, we have been able to create partnerships with local ethnic grocery stores and restaurants around Knoxville to combat food insecurity in the refugee community.  We would love to have volunteers help us pick up food donations from these stores and restaurants each week.  We will give you a location or locations to pick up from and you will represent Bridge as you drive to these locations to interact with store employees and pick up these donations.  Then bring these donations back to our office to help us weigh and record the donation.  Vehicles that can haul large donations are preferred, but may not be required.  This volunteer opportunity is a weekly opportunity with some flexibility.

GMA needs 5 volunteers to come and organize clothing and hygiene donations that we have received. Ideally during the school day, but I would be happy to set up times with volunteers to come to help after school or on a Saturday. 

We are looking for volunteers who can consistently volunteer for our Afterschool programs that mentor and support English Language Learners primarily in grades K-5! Our Afterschool Programs are located at 4 different Elementary Schools in Knox County serving each site once a week for 2.5 hours. We also have an additional Enrichment Program that runs in our offices twice a week in the evening. 

TN TeenLine is looking for compassionate volunteers to support Tennessee adolescents via text. Volunteers respond to text messages from teens and young adults seeking support with emotional distress, relationship issues, mental health struggles, bullying, and more.

Ideal candidates are skilled in active listening, able to type clearly and quickly, and have some familiarity with mental health or emotional wellbeing. Volunteers must complete our free training program and commit to two 4 hour shift per month. Your empathy could make all the difference to local teens.

OBJECTIVE: To walk alongside a grieving parent, meeting them where they are in the grieving process in order to alleviate everyday stressors and help build an enduring community support system for the parent.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: A Family Friend’s role is to check in on the parent for ongoing needs, assist in finding and referring parent to local services, remain apprised of changes in the parent's situation and serve not only as a liaison between the parent and WPRP Board, but also as a liaison between the parent and the community and the WPRP organization.

Needing volunteers to search for grants both local and national that I can apply for that are geared for music, the arts, international focus, singing, choral, musical theatre, etc.

I would like the volunteer hours to be spent looking for grants that we could apply to that fit our youth choir. I would also like the volunteer to type up a document of the grant, contact info, deadlines, and any information that would be helpful about that grant.

We need a go-getter who wants to help us succeed in finding funding.

Needing volunteers to search for area music festivals and build an informational page for me to have the contact, dates, deadlines, etc. that we can apply to be a part of. I need someone to organize a spreadsheet for me by month to help me know when deadlines are due for the various festival applications.

S.O.U.L.S. Youth Choir needs someone to volunteer time helping to keep our social media and website up to date. We need someone to help us widen our network of viewership of our posts. Help us know what we are doing wrong? :-)
