Description

Great Starts is a structured living program that offers integrated substance and mental health treatment services to recovering pregnant and parenting women.  The program utilizes evidence-based practices for co-occurring treatment.  The program's goal is to strengthen the mother-child bond through comprehensive services for mothers and specialized care for their children.  Volunteers will lead classes that teach women specialty & life skills. Examples include nutrition, cooking, crochet, GED tutoring, etc. Classes taught will be based on volunteers expertise.

This opportunity is weekday mornings, with frequency subject to volunteer schedule.

Volunteers may do the following:

  • Lead classes/groups that teach specialty & life skills
  • Plan activities that engage clients while teaching the desired skill
  • Assist staff in setting up for & cleaning up after class/group
  • Provide assistance, support, & general skill expertise

Volunteers must be over 18 years of age. In addition to completing background checks this opportunity also requires a TB test.
