Description

The 14th annual Ijams Hummingbird Festival: A Celebration of Wings will be held on the Ijams Homesite Lawn (next to the Miller Building) on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. This event gives attendees the opportunity to learn about and see a hummingbird up close during a banding session led by Master Bander Mark Armstrong as well as enjoy hands-on educational activities for all ages, guided Bird Nerd Walks, live animal ambassadors, and nonprofit organization and sponsor booths. New this year is a vendor Marketplace which will be located along the interior entrance to the Ijams Homesite.

Four Quarry Parking Assistants (or two attendants who would like to volunteer for the entire day) are needed to assist with directing traffic, giving directions, and communicating with the Subaru/shuttle drivers. There are two 4:30am to 8:30am shifts and two 8:30am-12:30pm shifts; however, volunteers can sign up for both shifts if volunteering for the entire day.

Please head to the Volunteer Check-In table (located at the interior entrance leading to the Ijams Homesite) when you arrive to be checked in and given specific directions to your area.

Volunteers will not park in the main Ijams Visitor Center parking lot.  Further detailed instructions for volunteer parking will be sent out closer to the event start time.
