Beginning on July 1st, 2025 - individuals who are interested in volunteering with Muse Knoxville must complete a 60 minute on-site orientation with the Vice President of Operations. RED PANDA RUN WATER TABLE VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTION
Zoo Knoxville is hosting its first ever 5k run on Saturday, May 30th! The Red Panda Run will start in front of the red pandas at the Zoo and travel through Chilhowee Park, including right past Muse. We need volunteers to manage a water table to fill cups of water, hand water to runners, and encourage them as they stop to hydrate. This volunteer is managed by the Vice President of Operations. Any questions or concerns regarding scheduled shifts, hours verification, etc. will be directed to Shelby Cornell at shelby@themuseknoxville.org.
SCHEDULE: This volunteer opportunity is around 1.5 hours in length. Shifts are scheduled via Give Pulse, Volunteer East Tennessee, or other volunteer recruitment platform.
LOCATION: Muse Knoxville main entrance -- 516 N. Beaman Street Knoxville, TN 37914
DRESS CODE: Closed-toed shoes, attire appropriate for a children’s museum setting, shorts/skirts/dresses must be fingertip length, shirts must cover midriff area; please dress to be outdoors.

Manage the water table outside of Muse's main entrance
- Fill water cups to have ready for runners
- Hand the water cups to runners as they enter the area
- Refill water cups as needed
- Encourage and cheer on runners as they stop to hydrate
- Clean up trash
- Tear down table at the end of the shift after the last runner has gone by
IMPACT OF THIS VOLUNTEER ROLE:
- Helping the Red Panda Run to be successful and fun for everyone involved!
- Providing water for thirsty runners and walkers
- Encouraging and cheering on runners and walkers who may need a boost of confidence and support
- Keeping Muse's main entrance and surrounding area clean and trash free
THIS VOLUNTEER POSITION HAS THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

Treat everyone with kindness and respect

Dependability and arriving on time for your scheduled shift

Not using cell phones or other electronic devices while actively volunteering

Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Friendly and positive attitude

Able to create and maintain a tidy workspace

Willingness to jump in and help where needed

Have not been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in the last 5 years

Complete and pass a background check at no cost to the volunteer

*Please note: Muse Knoxville has a volunteer no-show policy. If you do not show up for your scheduled shift 3 times, you are no longer able to volunteer with Muse. We understand that unforeseen circumstances do come up. If you are no longer able to attend your scheduled shift, please unregister from the opportunity and/or email the Vice President of Operations at shelby@themuseknoxville.org.
