Description

***UPDATED: Due to forecasted rain, the volunteer workday has been rescheduled from Saturday, January 6 to Sunday, January 7 at 2:00pm-5:00pm. Sorry for any inconvenience.***

The staff at Seven Islands State Birding Park is looking for volunteers to help with planting shrubs and other vegetation along the riverbank of the park as part of a erosion control project. Park staff will be planting Buttonbush and False Indigo along the riverbank in areas that are needing stabilization due to erosion from the water. Volunteers are encouraged to bring shovels and work gloves if they have their own they would like to use. Some shovels and gloves will be available for use though.

Volunteers should plan on meeting park staff in the Bluebird Barn/main parking lot off of Kelly Lane by 2:00pm on Sunday, January 7. Please wear closed-toe shoes and wear clothing appropriate for working outside. Please bring bottled water with you as we will not be near a water fountain when working at the site. If you have any questions regarding this volunteer opportunity please contact Ranger Stephanie at stephanie.mueller@tn.gov or by calling 865-333-8270. In case of inclement weather, the volunteer workday will be rescheduled to either the next day or the following weekend, depending on weather forecast.
