The Friendship House Peer Support Center (PSC) is a client-run rehabilitation service for adults with mental illness. Three main goals of peer support centers are education, socialization, and support. The PSC serves as a safe place for mentally ill adults to come build relationships, develop socialization skills, become involved in the community, and expand their support system. Members learn about independent living, mental health recovery, physical wellness and job training skills, and have a variety of community resources readily available

Volunteers are needed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00pm-3:00pm.

Volunteer tasks can include:

Volunteers must commit to a minimum of 6 months to the volunteer program and must be over 21 years of age. Volunteers must enjoy and be at ease working with adults that have a serious mental health diagnosis

Looking for a wonderful opportunity to make a significant impact on the young lives and future of students? Maynard Elementary Community School and Amachi Knoxville are partnering to provide small group mentoring during the school day this school year. Mentors will meet with 2-3 students 2nd-5th grade for 1 hour per week to encourage, help build confidence, teach friendship and leadership skills, among other things. Group activities could include sports, arts/crafts, discussion topics, and/or special group projects. Mentor training is provided through Amachi and onsite orientation is provided at Maynard Elementary. The Museum of Appalachia's annual Fall Heritage Days educational event is Friday, October 23rd, Thursday, October 30th, Friday, October 31st and Friday, November 7th. Volunteers are needed to help in a variety of ways - assist demonstrators and crafters, monitor children's activities, act as docents and facilitate parking. Choose to volunteer one day, or all four. We need your help to keep great books accessible to communities 24/7. Visit Little Free Libraries in your community to distribute books! 

We can suggest where to look for free or inexpensive books, or if you already have some, you can share those too. You can find book-sharing boxes near you using our world map or free mobile app. Volunteers over 18 anywhere in the U.S. where there are Little Free Libraries can register for this opportunity.

The North Knox Wellness Fair, organized by United Way of Greater Knoxville and UT Medical Center, will bring together neighbors, local organizations, and healthcare professionals for a day of connection, learning, and free services. Attendees will have access to multiple services.

Information Booth Workers man one of three info booths located throughout the Fairgrounds. They answer common questions, hand out guidebooks, and more.

Our mission is to provide opportunities for refugees to rebuild their lives after suffering persecution so that they may become productive, contributing members of the community. Bridge Refugee Services offers support to over 400 refugee clients in the greater Knox Co. area, and we cannot do this without community support.

Through Second Harvest's Food Rescue Program, we have been able to create partnerships with local ethnic grocery stores and restaurants around Knoxville to combat food insecurity in the refugee community.  We would love to have volunteers help us pick up food donations from these stores and restaurants each week.  We will give you a location or locations to pick up from and you will represent Bridge as you drive to these locations to interact with store employees and pick up these donations.  Then bring these donations back to our office to help us weigh and record the donation.  Vehicles that can haul large donations are preferred, but may not be required.  This volunteer opportunity is a weekly opportunity with some flexibility.

We are seeking volunteer drivers to transport Knox County seniors and people with disabilities. Help a senior with door-through-door transportation assistance to the grocery store, medical appointments, and other fun activities. Volunteers use program vehicles (and gas!) to assist people who might otherwise not be able to leave their homes. 

Stay with the client, support and help them at destinations and back to their residence.

SUMMER HELP NEEDED!     Knoxville-Knox County CAC’s (Community Action Committee) Volunteer Assisted Transportation (VAT) program is seeking volunteer drivers to assist seniors and people with disabilities to medical appointments, shopping trips, beauty appointments, and other fun activities!

During the summer months our regular scheduled volunteers are not available due to travelling and vacations. We are always seeking volunteers, and this is a time that we will need more volunteers to cover our needs. 

We are celebrating 16 years of serving the community and what a way to help someone, by getting them to the grocery store to access fresh food and also making sure they get to much needed medical appointments. We even can provide social trips to the senior center or the beauty salon.

Volunteers are provided with the following:

Volunteers are needed for weekdays, evenings and weekends. Drivers must be 21 years of age and have at least 3 years of driving experience. 

Our transportation is not based on business hours; a ride is provided when a volunteer is available.

WPRP has used Monday.com for over a year. We are looking for a volunteer who has expertise using this software to assist in creating charts/reports, automations and workflows, and set up a new workspace to assist with onboarding and managing volunteers. 

Our volunteers work out of our Maryville warehouse in the Product Recovery area or our Repack Clean Room where we process donated and bulk food for distribution, to help feed our East Tennessee neighbors.

Volunteers also help in non-food project support roles such as cleaning, letter stuffing, and miscellaneous admin duties. 

No experience necessary! Training will be provided on-site at the beginning of the shift.

*Volunteers must be at least 10 years of age, and anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
** Please note, for groups that have minors ages 10-15 among the participants, we require a 1:5 chaperone to minor ratio. Please ensure that your group size matches this ratio with adult chaperones (18+) and minors.

Welcome to the Spring Hill-Whittle Springs Community Partner Coalition.
This coalition has been established in response to the strong interest and requests from the Spring Hill Elementary School and Whittle Springs Middle School communities. It brings together a diverse group of stakeholders, including community partners, parents, staff members, and other key contributors. The primary objective of this coalition is to streamline the services provided by its members, fostering collaboration and enhancing our collective impact.

To ensure efficient and accurate tracking of participation, we will utilize this platform for sign-in at each of our meetings. This will allow us to maintain a clear record of involvement and engagement.

The Vine Volunteer Collective is looking for Spanish and Swahili-speaking volunteers to support Family Engagement events at Vine Middle School throughout the school year. We are building a network of volunteers who can be called upon to assist with language support as needed—there’s no expectation to be at every event, just those you have capacity for! Reading Team volunteers assist us in mentally engaging our animals. This helps them to become more adoptable while living in a shelter environment! When working with the animals in the reading team, you will not be handling them physically, but will instead be challenging them to listen to your words. You can read a book, do your homework, or quietly play them an instrument!

Beaumont Magnet Academy provides weekly food bags for students who need food support over the weekends.  These bags contain easy to make food and snacks, as well as fresh produce ensuring that kids have food when school is not in session.  Glen Oak Missionary Baptist Church packs the nonperishable items from Second Harvest for us.  Beardsley Farm and the Rotary Club of Knoxville add the fresh produce to the bags 1-2 times a month.

To make this process work, we need help!  We need volunteers to transport our food bags from Glen Oak Missionary Baptist Church to Beaumont Magnet Academy or to Beardsley Farm on the weeks they will be adding produce.

Volunteers will pick up the food bags in the morning and drop them off at BMA or Beardsley Farm depending on the week.  We usually have approximately 100 to 130 bags.  Rolling bins are available to move items to and from your vehicle at each location.  

I will reach out to you to let you know if you will be delivering to the school or to Beardsley Farm.  Dates for Beardsley Farm will be confirmed by beginning of September.  First Beardsley Farm date is 9/18.

Our second annual Equality Fest is happening at City Park in Pigeon Forge. We need people who have some training in security, conflict de-escalation and/or CPR and other emergency health care to be present at our festival. We could also use volunteers who would like to be trained in these areas. We don't expect conflict but we want to be prepared.

HALT fall training classes begin the week of September 8.  In our classes we match a volunteer with a teen and dog team and teach the teens how to train dogs using positive reinforcement techniques.  There is absolutely no dog training experience necessary.  We have a class instructor who will walk everyone through the training commands and the steps to implement.  Volunteers need to be at least 21 years old and able to follow instructions and support the teen in teaching the steps to the dog.

Classes meet twice a week for 4 weeks and we ask that you are able to attend all 8 classes for the session.  Our classes meet at the PetSafe dog park located at 10424 PetSafe Way in Knoxville.  You can choose from the following classes:

Time commitment medium-large, depending on how many events coordinator has to attend and how quickly dogs are adopted. 

Volunteers will help runners check in and direct them on the right course. This is an outside position, and will require some walking and standing. We recommend wearing weather appropriate clothing, as well as closed toed shoes.

Volunteers will receive a shirt, complimentary fair tickets, and parking passes to attend the fair with their family and friends!

Please Note: A mandatory volunteer orientation will take place on August 28, 2025. In order to become an official volunteer with the Fair, you must attend this meeting. Life is a journey, and we are needing some compassionate volunteers to help walk our patients home on their last leg of their journey.  We have opportunities for patient companionship, caregiver relief, running errands, preparing lite meals and doing lite housekeeping.  We also have opportunities in our office to do administrative tasks and with our specialized programs, such as We Honor Veterans, Pet Peace of Mind, G.I.F.T. (Grace In Final Transition) and Chart of Life.

TN TeenLine is looking for compassionate volunteers to support Tennessee adolescents via text. Volunteers respond to text messages from teens and young adults seeking support with emotional distress, relationship issues, mental health struggles, and more.

Ideal candidates are skilled in active listening, able to type clearly and quickly, and have some familiarity with mental health or emotional wellbeing. Volunteers must complete our free training program and commit to one 4 hour shift per week. Your empathy could make all the difference to local teens.

The 50th Annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025. More than 60,000 people come to view the award winning parade featuring lighted floats, marching bands, giant balloons and of course Santa Claus! The parade route runs through the middle of downtown Gatlinburg.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. from Baskins Creek Bypass and East Parkway, a spectacular parade line-up of balloons, floats decorated by local businesses and community groups, and high school marching bands, spans through downtown before ending at traffic light #10. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early on parade day. 

We need volunteers for multiple different aspects of this event. Balloon handlers, banner carriers, judges, integration, and so much more. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt and hours counted towards any community service.

People of all ages can volunteer for this event! 

The fifth annual East Knoxville Community Cleanup will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 9am-12pm. The event base will be at Caswell Park, located at 616 Jessamine Street, Knoxville, TN 37917. 

We will be removing litter from East Knoxville roads, creeks, and parks. Participants of any age are welcome! We look forward to seeing those who live, work, or play in East Knoxville - as well as anyone who wants to lend a helping hand. Thank you for keeping Knoxville beautiful! 

There are three volunteer options: two to sign up as an individual picking up litter and one to sign up as a group. Please only fill out the section that applies to you.

Groups: Participating groups will send a leader to Caswell Park to pick up supplies and then meet their group at their designated, or assigned neighborhood to pick up litter. Please only sign up as a group if you are wishing to lead your group in your own cleanup area.

Great Starts is a structured living program that offers integrated substance and mental health treatment services to recovering pregnant and parenting women.  The program utilizes evidence-based practices for co-occurring treatment.  The program's goal is to strengthen the mother-child bond through comprehensive services for mothers and specialized care for their children.  Volunteers will lead classes that teach women specialty & life skills. Examples include nutrition, cooking, crochet, GED tutoring, etc. Classes taught will be based on volunteers expertise.

This opportunity is weekday mornings, with frequency subject to volunteer schedule.

Community Educators are volunteer public speakers and community builders who help the Alzheimer's Association raise awareness, provide education, and expand the reach of educational offerings in the community. These volunteers deliver presentations using prepared training materials on topics related to Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. 

Special Events Volunteers with the Alzheimer’s Association play a key role in creating impactful community experiences. These volunteers assist with event setup and breakdown, helping to create welcoming and organized spaces that support our mission. Most often, they support tabling events, engage with the public, hand out materials, answer basic questions, and represent the Association with warmth and professionalism. Their presence helps raise awareness, promote programs, and connect individuals with vital resources. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being out in the community and wants to make a difference in the lives of those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Volunteers may be asked to help lift and carry light materials, and events typically take place during daytime or early evening hours. Training and support are provided, and all experience levels are welcome.

The St. Christopher Fund is looking for an assistant to help our Health & Wellness Manager. This involves Completing forms for new participants, updating data into programs and any other assistance as deemed by the Health & Wellness Manager. Any help is appreciated, even if only 2 hours/week!

At the Connection Center we have multiple ministries that give back to the community through volunteer-led support. Our ministries include:  a food pantry, day center for people experiencing homelessness, connection partnership, and legal advocates. We offer an orientation to learn about all of our ministries on the first Wednesday of every month at noon in our North Conference room. Therapeutic Preschool is an Intensive Outpatient Program for children ages 4 - 6 who have experienced significant trauma.  Children learn about emotions, coping skills and communication.  Children are provided with a space to work through their emotions in a least restrictive environment.  

Therapeutic Preschool runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am-12pm. 

Volunteer tasks can include:

Volunteers must commit to a minimum of 6 months to the volunteer program and must be over 21 years of age.  Volunteers must enjoy and be at ease working with children who have emotional and behavioral difficulties.

Loudon County Habitat is in need of volunteers for upcoming construction site tasks. No experience is required. There will be task leaders onsite to provide guidance. Many of the upcoming projects are located in Loudon. Volunteers will need to register on our volunteer platform Bloomerang. A link can be provided to those who express interest here. Once registered volunteers can view what tasks/shifts are available and sign up for what fits their schedule and comfort level. 

By taking a dog out of the rescue for just a few hours, you’ll provide them mental stimulation from new experiences and meeting new people.

Doggy Day Out is a  program where the public can take dogs on day outings. Everything you need will be provide.

To meet our mission, we use chain-link fence panels to put up a 800 SF enclosure for a chained dog.  The dog also gets a shade canopy and sometimes we install chicken wire at the bottom if the dog is a digger.  

Builds are usually on Saturday mornings and last 2 -3 hours.  We advise everyone on our volunteer list when we schedule a build and if you're able to help, you join us.  We are a fun group and the reward is amazing when we're able to witness the dog get off the chain for the first time - freedom and the ability to run and jump.

We are specifically looking for volunteers in counties surrounding Knox - Anderson, Blount, Sevier, Grainger, Jefferson, Union, Roane!

Volunteer to provide emergency mental health needs to disaster victims of a hurricane, tornado, or house fire.

This important volunteer role uses licensed and certified mental health workers to respond to local disasters and provide Disaster Mental Health (DMH) services to clients and Red Cross workers during preparedness, response, and recovery within a chapter or region following local disasters.

This position is responsible for responding during local emergencies to provide Disaster Mental Health interventions and help facilitate long-term recovery for clients impacted by a disaster and assist the chapter in developing partnerships with local mental health agencies.

Experience and up to date credentials are required for this particular role. All Red Cross training will be provided during onboarding. 

Disasters don't have schedules. That is why we work with our volunteer workforce based on need as well as their availability.

Provide assistance to meet disaster-caused emergency health needs such as loss of medications, medical equipment, treatment, and health recovery information to victims of disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and home fires.
