Volunteer: Volunteer at the Winter Farmers Market

Nourish Knoxville is looking for volunteers for our Saturday Winter Farmers Market. Volunteers may assist with setting up and breaking down the market information booth, conducting crowd counts, operating our Nourish Kids educational programming, and/or helping process transactions for Market Money (Nourish Knoxville's ATM system) - Double Up Food Bucks (SNAP doubling program) - and SNAP (formerly known as Food Stamps).

All volunteers must be eighteen years or older. Scheduling is flexible and based on volunteer availability. If interested, please fill out the following form: https://www.nourishknoxville.org/volunteer/. Our volunteer coordinator will reach out as soon as possible.

VOLUNTEER ASSISTED TRANSPORTATION NEEDS VOLUNTEER DRIVERS!!  We are experiencing a shortage of volunteers this Fall/Winter. If you enjoy helping others, please consider this volunteer opportunity.

 Knoxville-Knox County CAC’s (Community Action Committee) Volunteer Assisted Transportation (VAT) program is seeking volunteer drivers to assist seniors and people with disabilities to medical appointments, shopping trips, beauty appointments, and other fun activities!

During the fall and winter months our regular scheduled volunteers are not available due to travelling and vacations. We are always seeking volunteers, and this is a time that we will need more volunteers to cover our needs. We provide the vehicle to use and supply the gas. You just pick and choose how often you want to volunteer. 

We are celebrating 16 years of serving the community and what a way to help someone, by getting them to the grocery store to access fresh food and also making sure they get to much needed medical appointments. We even can provide social trips to the senior center or the beauty salon.

Volunteers are provided with the following:

Professional training Program vehicles are provided as well as the fuel. FREE training to include First Aid & CPR certification and Driver safety class. Flexible Schedules --- choose when you want to volunteer and how often! 

Volunteers are needed for weekdays, evenings and weekends. Drivers must be 21 years of age and have at least 3 years of driving experience. 

Our transportation is not based on business hours; a ride is provided when a volunteer is available.

Little Chefs, Big Change is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Cooking Class Volunteers to join our mission-driven team. As a Cooking Class Volunteer, you will work directly with the Lead Cooking Instructor, other volunteers, and students, helping us bring the joy of healthy cooking to after-school programs. Our biggest needs right now are for November 25 and December 2, 3, 5, 9 and 11!

During a typical class, you might:

Assist the lead instructor, including helping with demonstrations, monitoring cooking stations, and addressing any issues that arise. Help set up the cooking stations and assist in cleaning and organizing the cooking area after each class. Encourage students to participate actively in the cooking process, helping them feel comfortable and excited about learning. Adhere to safety guidelines and ensure that students handle kitchen equipment and ingredients safely. Assist students in preparing ingredients, which may include washing, chopping, and measuring. Encourage students to explore new plant-based ingredients and recipes. Foster a sense of teamwork and cooperation among the students. Set a positive example for students in terms of attitude, enthusiasm, and respect for others. Be prepared to adapt to changing situations and assist with various tasks as needed.
