Volunteer: 2026 Community Investment Volunteers - Knox County

United Way of Greater Knoxville is seeking volunteers to support our Community Investments process. Volunteers help review nonprofit grant applications and make funding recommendations that strengthen our community using a Trust-Based Philanthropy approach. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to learn about local needs, represent donor intent, and help direct resources in Early Care and Education, Economic Mobility, and Healthy Communities.

United Way of Greater Knoxville will review all interested volunteers & our team will reach out with next steps.

Selected volunteers will commit to the following, totaling about 10-15 hours throughout a 3 month term from April - June 2026. 

Knox County: 

Volunteer Orientation: 4/22 or 4/29 (volunteers attend 1 session)

Committee Review Period: 5/18 - 6/12 (reviewed independently/on your own schedule)

Committee Meetings to discuss recommendations will be scheduled between 6/15-6/30

Roles & Responsibilities:

Attend a volunteer orientation and scheduled grant review meeting

Review and evaluate nonprofit grant applications

Participate in committee discussions and funding recommendations

Apply United Way investment principles and organizational lifecycle considerations

Follow Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality guidelines

Collaborate respectfully with fellow volunteers and UWGK staff
