Our Mission
To create long lasting change that improves people's lives, by collaborating with service providers and other constituencies in the community to meet community needs.
Scope Statement
Roane County United Way facilitates community improvement initiatives, collecting and allocating community resources to serve residents of Roane County through partner service providers based in Roane and surrounding counties.
Service Model
We will encourage and assist partner service providers, as well as other community service providers, in employing a Linking Relief, Rehabilitation, and Development (LRRD) service model in providing services to Roane County residents. The LRRD service model seeks to provide emergency relief while focusing on offering service recipients a pathway to self-sustainability.
Current Initiatives
- Conducting a needs assessment to ensure services are available for the most pressing needs in our community
- Facilitating a county-wide effort to empower citizens entrapped by chronic dependency
- Providing the volunteer clearinghouse (you are using right now! :) to increase awareness of service opportunities
- Promoting an Education Impact Iniatiative to increase awareness of educational opportunities for our youth (e.g. every student in Roane County has the chance to attend a community college FREE though tnAchieves!)
- Providing FREE tax assistance to our community via the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program
