Great Starts is a structured living program that offers integrated substance abuse and mental health treatment services to recovering pregnant and parenting women. The program utilizes evidenced-based practices for co-occurring treatment. The program’s goal is to strengthen the mother-child bond through comprehensive services for mothers and specialized care for their children. Volunteers will work with a staff person to provide childcare so the women can attend therapeutic groups.
Volunteer Schedule
Great Starts Childcare Volunteers are needed for various schedules.
Qualifications
Volunteers must be over 18 years of age and be willing to commit to volunteering at least 6 months. All volunteers must also submit to a background check and TB Test
Volunteers Responsibilities
- Assist staff to watch children in the childcare room
- Rock, hold, and help feed babies
- Spend time with children and model appropriate behavior
- Assist the childcare specialist with planned activities for the children
Additional Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills, especially with young children
- High level of creativity, enthusiasm and energy
