Great Starts is a structured living program that offers integrated substance and mental health treatment services to recovering pregnant and parenting women. The program utilizes evidence-based practices for co-occurring treatment. The program's goal is to strengthen the mother-child bond through comprehensive services for mothers and specialized care for their children. Volunteers will work with a staff person to provide childcare so the women can attend therapeutic groups.
Great Starts Childcare Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Fridays 9am-12pm.
Volunteers may do the following:
- Assist staff watching children in the childcare room
- Rock, hold, and feed babies
- Spend time playing with children and modeling appropriate behavior
- Assist staff with planned activities for the children
Volunteers must commit to a minimum of 6 months to the volunteer program and must be over 21 years of age. In addition to completing background checks this opportunity also requires a TB test.
