One of the best wildflower spots in Oak Ridge is starting to be consumed by invasive species. To combat this encroachment, TCWP will lead an effort on Saturday, November 16, to clear out the invasives beginning to cover this fantastic spot on the North Ridge Trail. This area is covered in trout lilies, trilliums, spring beauties, and much more in the spring.
We’ll meet for the cleanup at 9 a.m. at the Walker Access to the North Ridge Trail entrance, down N. Walker Lane off W Outer Drive. Parking is limited on the street, but there is more parking at the Oak Ridge Children's Museum. There is a steep slope to the main area, so wear sturdy shoes and bring hiking poles if needed. After our work (around noon), TCWP will provide a pizza lunch.
Participants should wear weather-appropriate clothes and bring water, gloves, clippers, loppers, or bow or pruning saws, if possible. Other tools and equipment will also be available at the worksite. A pizza lunch will be provided.
