Help make a difference in Knoxville when winter weather drops below 25 F. North Knoxville Baptist Church, in coordination with Knox - Knoxville Office of Housing & Stability, along with local partners and churches, is seeking volunteers and shift captains to create a safe & warm overnight shelter for those in need.

Volunteer Shifts:
Setup: (4:00 PM – 7:00 PM)
Set up cots / bedding, tables & chairs, and open kitchen.
Welcome & Guest Processing: (5:00 PM - 8:00 PM)
Welcome & Direct guests to the facility resources and explain the rules & responsibilities.
Kitchen: (5:00 PM - 8:00 PM)
Warm pre-made meals and prepare & serve beverages.
Guest Service: (5:00 PM - 8:00 PM)
Distribute needed items and materials to individual guests.
Overnight Watch: (9:00 PM – 6:00 AM) - Divided into three two-person shifts (9–12, 12–3, and 3–6).
Responsibilities include verifying headcounts, keeping overwatch, and monitoring restrooms and early risers.
Morning & Cleanup: (6:00 AM – 9:00 AM)
Wake guests, serve simple breakfast, hand out bus passes, and return secured items. Break down, sanitize, and reset the gymnasium to its original setup.
