Description

Lebanon in the Fork Cemetery is one of Knox County’s oldest cemeteries. (Almost 230 years old!) Overlooking the Holston and French Broad rivers, the historic location was once home to Lebanon in the Fork Presbyterian Church. The church no longer stands and it’s members are no more, leaving the cemetery in need of some loving care and preservation. Volunteers are greatly needed to help with the beautification and groundskeeping of the land that serves as the resting place of several families important to the founding of Knox County and East Tennessee history and a landmark on the National Historic Registry.

Tasks include litter pick up, trimming, brush and tree removal and just overall care.

Litter pick up supplies will be provided by Keep Knox Beautiful on April 10th only.

Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to bring gloves and their tools of choice --Ex. Pruners, rakes, weed-trimmers and chainsaws or just muscles! Any type of tools they enjoy using for lawn maintenance!

Please note that this event is not at Historic Ramsey House, but at the Lebanon in the Forks Cemetery at 2390 Asbury Road, Knoxville, TN 37914. Historic Ramsey House owns and maintains the historic cemetery.
