On Saturday, May 8, volunteers should meet at the Morgan County Visitors Center at 8:30 a.m. (Eastern Time), located in Wartburg at the junction of Highways 27 and 62. After registering, volunteers will be escorted to the site, located on Potters Falls Road just outside of downtown Wartburg. Organizers ask that volunteers wear sturdy shoes and bring water in a refillable bottle, insect repellent, and sun block. Following the clean-up, volunteers will be treated to a free lunch of sandwiches and other goodies back at the Visitor Center around 12:30. The event will wrap up around 1:30p.m.
The event is sponsored by the Emory River Watershed Association (ERWA), Tennessee Citizens for Wilderness Planning (TCWP), and with funding assistance from a Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Reservoir Community grant.
Volunteers may register or ask questions ahead of the event by sending a message on ERWA’s Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/EmoryRiverWatershedAssociation, or by contacting Jimmy Groton at 865-805-9908 (cell), groton87@comcast.net.
