During the height of the pandemic, video conferencing software and social media brought us together when we sheltered in place and instituted social distancing. We are truly so lucky to live in a digitally connected world!
Unfortunately, learning and adapting through digital media has been especially hard and isolating for many of our seniors unfamiliar with these tools.
Every Thursday and Friday 12:00-4:00pm in May and June we are teaching small group classes of seniors how to navigate their computer and use digital tools. We are seeking a volunteer that can serve on a weekly basis (Thursdays and/or Fridays) during this time slot.
A teacher will guide the group through the curriculum and you will serve as a volunteer teaching assistant working closely with 1 to 2 seniors. By answering questions and reinforcing classroom material about Facebook, email, and general Windows PC computer operation, you’ll be the tech savvy resource that people can turn to! You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know that alleviating frustration and fostering independence is fulfilling.
Masks are required to be worn over mouth and nose. You will also review our COVID-19 protocol before serving.
