Description

Second Harvest has a need for 3-4 volunteers to help distribute pre-packed dry goods food boxes from our warehouse and donations from a local grocery store to residents at Golden Age Retirement Village.

Our volunteers will help with:

  • Unloading a full pallet of dry goods food boxes from our Food Rescue Truck
  • Unloading miscellaneous produce and baked goods from the truck donated by a local grocery store
  • Walking items to the community room at Golden Age Retirement Village
  • There is a resident that helps with the unloading and set up process, but they should not be trying to lift anything heavy.
  • After everything is unloaded and set up for distribution, volunteers will help distribute the food to the residents
  • The residents you will be serving will already be there waiting well before the truck arrives
  • End time of the distribution will be after the residents have received their food and clean up is complete. Sometime between 9:30am – 10:00.

Date: Thursday, January 2nd (2025)

Time: Volunteers arrive at 8:30am for orientation and ask for Kim Fowler, the Service Coordinator at Golden Age. This will give time for introductions and discuss the process with the resident volunteer and service coordinator. Once the truck is there by 9am, the process begins. It is very important that all volunteers be on site no later than 8:30 in case the truck arrives early.

Location: Golde Age Retirement Village: 1109 Beaman Lake Road Knoxville, TN 37914

**Volunteers MUST be AT LEAST 18 years old
