Our Mission
Nourish Knoxville, Inc. is a Knoxville-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization cultivating healthy communities by supporting relationships between local farmers, producers, and the public.
About Us
With over a decade of dedicated service, Nourish Knoxville has strived to build a more just and equitable food system. Our work includes:
Farmers Market Work - We operate the Market Square Farmers Market (Wednesdays, May - October; Saturdays, May - March) and the New Harvest Farmers Market (Thursdays, April - September). Our producer-only markets provide low-barrier, direct-to-consumer access for more than 150 small businesses, year-round economic opportunities for farmers, and access to locally grown foods for our community.
Food Access Work - Everyone has the right to nourishing, affordable, local food. Our food access programs, including Nourish Kids, Nourish Moves, and Double Up Food Bucks, empower people to make their own food choices. By increasing spending power at farm-direct sites for underserved individuals, we not only address immediate food insecurity but also foster a sense of belonging and community while increasing revenue for farmers.
Regional Food System Work - A thriving local food system means supporting the entire East Tennessee region. Through our East Tennessee Local Food Guide, we promote local farms, farmers markets, and other local food businesses across our region. We partner with other regional markets to provide nutrition incentive programs like Double Up Food Bucks and Nourish Kids across East Tennessee, improving access to local food for rural residents and increasing economic opportunities for farmers in their own communities.
