Knox County Community Action Committee’s
Volunteer Assisted Transportation program:
- Seeking volunteer drivers to assist seniors and people with disabilities
Provide one-on-one transportation assistance to seniors and people with disabilities. As a volunteer driver you transport and assist the rider to and from destinations safely. Also help as needed with mobility aids, paperwork, and making sure the rider doesn't fall or get lost.
- Volunteers are needed for weekdays, evenings and weekends.
- Stay with Riders and provide assistance at appointments, grocery shopping and other errands.
- Ensure Riders make it safely to their destinations and back home.
This program helps seniors and people with disabilities remain active and independent with assistance from a community volunteer. Volunteers help make a difference by allowing these clients to access medical care, make their own choices at the grocery store and remain in their homes longer.
- Free Professional Training provided. (First Aid, CPR, Driver Safety training)
- Flexible scheduling: Choose when you volunteer through a Google Calendar link
- Agency Vehicles provided as well as fuel, No special driver's license required.
- Drivers must be 21 years of age and have at least 3 years of driving experience
- Good driving record and MUST pass a physical, drug screen and background check.
